Welcome to Tennessee

I made it to Tennessee safe and sound!!!! After a VERY LONG drive, over the course of two days, a little rain, a couple of stops at Cracker Barrell, and crossing the Mighty Mississippi; my mom, aunt paula and I made it to Johnson City, TN. It's beautiful here!! Great weather and beautiful mountains and scenery!! My room and the rest of the house are pretty much a disaster area due to all my junk. But, hopefully in the next couple of days I will have all of that stuff sorted out with pictures of the new place.

Crossing the Mighty Mississippi

Aunt Paula, Mom and Me....glad to be here!!

see ya later, alligator....

Well, time has come to say good-bye to what has become my home town for the past nine years. Can you believe I've been in College Station that long? I can't!! Words really can't express what I'm feeling right now. Moving is hard work, and I'm exhausted and just ready for all this to be done!! What will I miss about good 'ol College Station?? Well, there are the obvious things/people, which I can't really write about right now becuase I can't stand to cry anymore today. So, here's a top ten list of the fun and silly things I will miss in no particular order and a couple of things I won't miss at all....
1. Freebirds
2. The Train
3. Aggie Baseball
4. Blue Baker
5. Gold's Gym
6. Chillin' in my hammock in Kirbyville
7. Kyle Field and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band
8. Shake's
9. Ahh, the humidity....not so much
10. The Bryan Wal-Mart.....NOT!!!!!!!!!
Please pray for safety and our sanity as my aunt, my mom and I make the 18 hour drive to Johnson City, TN the next two days!!

Let Freedom Ring

Happy 4th of July!! I am a bit of a patriot, so I love to celebrate on the 4th. I spent the last two nights celebrating with friends and fireworks, one at the Kirby's and then tonight at Bush Library. I am thankful to live in a place that honors the men and women who defend what we celebrate on July 4th....independence and so many blessed freedoms. A BIG thank you to all the men and women who sacrifice for our country each day. Who stand with honor to fight for what they believe and live with integrity among those who fight against them.
Judi Kirby...the Kirby's have become my second family.
I love ya'll and will miss you SOOOO much!!

Cara Kirby

Lisa and Marla....enjoying some fireworks and good fellowship with friends!! Love ya'll!!

funky chair

This is what I did with my spare time last week....more like 3 days of hard work! Thanks to Ron @ Ron's Upholstery in Paris, Tx, I learned how to reupholster a chair and had a great time doing it!! I must say that I am quite pleased with the work of my hands...well worth the time spent and hopefully it will be the perfect addition to my new home in Johnson City, TN.

unemployed

My official last day at Central came last week. For some reason I felt surprised. I knew it was coming, but I guess it's just one of those things that doesn't seem real until it's actually happening. Central has been a part of my life for a long time and it's really weird getting up in the morning and not going to the church. I guess I better enjoy this season of unemployment while it lasts, since it won't last long. These are the beautiful (inside and out) ladies that I have been blessed to know as friends and co-workers. I love each of you and will miss you greatly!!

Farewell Tour

My farewell tour across Texas continued this weekend with a roadtrip to Austin. I got to visit with an old friend from high school. This is Jen and Jerry (not to be mistaken for Ben and Jerry...jen, maybe ya'll should go into the ice cream business??) Cogburn. It was such a blessing to catch up and just be encouraged by all that God has done and is doing in your lives!!

Next stop....Sabinal....to visit my cousin Donna, her husband Jay and their precious kiddos.....this is Miles. He's 5 years old and full of energy! I got to play Tonka with him and hear all about roping calves. Our visit was filled with Donna's good cooking, some antique/junk shopping (what's a visit in our family without going antiquing?) and chasing kiddos around. Thanks for a great weekend!

Meet Audrey (in pink) and Bailey (in green). These are the first twins that I know of in our family. How cute are they? Full of energy, loud squeels, and of course, their favorite word, NO!

I LOVE TEXAS!!

With this "Welcome" sign, I think Hondo, Tx will become one of the fastest growing towns in the US. Who wouldn't want to live in God's country!?!

Born in the USA

I've always wanted to visit all 50 states before I die, so far, I've visited 35 states (I can't remember if I've been to Utah, so maybe 36??).....thanks to mom and dad and what I thought were those deadly summer 50-day car trips across the US. Now, I'm really thankful for those trips, because they allowed me to see so may different things....like Mt. Rushmore, Niagra, the Badlands, the petrified forest....and of course we can't forget puking on the White House lawn. Thanks, mom and dad, for all the fun memories!! Next on the list....California!

dancin' machine

check this out...it's sad to say that i at one time have attempted pretty much all his moves, except maybe the catepillar. what about you??

can't believe i'm doing this.....

So, it's 12 midnight and I have crazy insomnia for some reason(which for anyone who knows me well, knows that I've normally been asleep for a few hours by now)....so, after trying relentlessly to get myself to sleep by praying, gettin' in the Word, I finally gave up and sat down at the computer. After thinking through to do lists for the upcoming weeks (I'm moving, in case you didn't know) I was still wide awake...so, what to do next....create my own Blog of course! I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M DOING THIS!!! I am so not an internet girl, and I never thought in a bagillion years I would do this, but here I am....I think the main reason I think having a Blog is a good idea is to keep up with friends and family as I journey off to Tennessee. I pretty much stink at keepin' in touch these days, so why not get a head start....this my small attempt at keeping in touch with people I won't see for a while, in hopes that those relationships will continue as I head off to Tennessee. So, if you're one of those people, keep in touch as I attempt to do the same....and who knows maybe a little fun and laughter will be brought to you via the Blog :)
